My name is DH Hanni and I love the freedom and sheer joy writing brings me. I’ve been writing in some form most of my life, but it has only been in the last few years I have discovered and fully embraced my creative side. I write short stories, but am currently working on transitioning into novel writing.
Like all writers, I’m an avid reader. I love anything that has an intriguing story and well-developed characters. My favorite authors are Ken Follett, George R.R. Martin, J.K. Rowling, Deanna Raybourn, and Philippa Gregory.
I can never clearly answer what my favorite book, or anything for that matter, is because there has never been THE BOOK that stands above all others. But here is a list of my current favorites: A Dangerous Fortune, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Hammer of Eden, Pillars of the Earth, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, Harry Potter, and Frankenstein.
I have a Bachelor’s in History from the University of Nevada, Reno, so one of the genres I write in is historical fiction. The time periods I enjoy exploring are the late Middle Ages, the Victorian age, and early 20th century. I have also played around with horror, general fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, and Steampunk.
Published Works
I have been published in the following online literary magazines:
Hidden Animals 1st issue
Indiana Voice Journal May 2015 Issue
My work appears in print as well in the following anthologies:
LocoThology 2013: Tales of Fantasy and Science Fiction published by Loconeal Publishing
First Contact Café published by Sky Warrior Books
La Cocina de Zombie published by Sirens Call Publications
Currently I reside in South Carolina, soaking up the history and culture. When I decide there is something more to life than writing, I enjoy spending time with my husband, cooking, trying new restaurants, reading, going to the symphony and other fine arts events, watching TV, going to the movies, listening to music, rooting for the San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Nevada Wolfpack football team, the occasional hike, playing video games, spoiling my three wonderful four-legged children, gardening, British humor, and avoiding heat and sunlight.
