Obdurate is an adjective describing someone or something as either unmoved by persuasion, pity, or tender feelings; stubborn or stubbornly resistant to moral influence, refusing to change one’s opinion or course of action.

The obdurate consulting detective resisted the little girl’s crocodile tears knowing full well she was the puppet of a psychotic criminal.
