Officious is an adjective describing 1) volunteering one’s services where they are neither asked nor needed; meddlesome, or 2) informal, unofficial.

Starla rolled her eyes as her officious aunt offered up more advice on how best to handle a difficult teenager; advice she found curious coming from a woman with no children.
